The soil chamber collars are opaque cylindrical devices which are placed in the soil using a sharpened end. The other end of the collar has a Lap Joint which allows the soil chamber to attach to it effortlessly, without disturbing the soil.

The collars should only be inserted completely into the soil. This allows the gas manifold (part of the G180 Soil Chamber) to be positioned on top of the soil, without causing compression of the soil.

All collars are identical in size and can be used with any G180 Soil Chamber.

Qubit also sells a Soil Chamber (G118) that fits directly in the soil, without the use of collars. This soil chamber also has a sharpened edge which is used to pierce the soil during measurements.
