Overview
Take your training to the next level with the Speed Coach system from NK. Instantaneous boat speed readings will tell you exactly how fast the boat is moving and give immediate quantitative feedback on personal improvement, technical changes, rigging adjustments or seat race switches.
The Speed Coach is an excellent training tool for any small boat, and is also an excellent complement to a Cox Vox or Cox Box amplification system in coxed boats, giving coxswains quantitative feedback on boat speed as technique and power calls are made.
Boat speed through the water is accurately measured and clearly displayed, together with stroke rate and elapsed time, distance or averaged speed. Rowing on moving water makes it uniquely difficult to measure your improvement over a stroke or over a piece. NK's proven speed impeller won't ever mislead you the way a land-based time or speed measurement can.
Elapsed time and stroke rate readings guide workouts, and average speed and memory recall allow you to review your performance over a piece or race in detail.
Choose to display either meters, kilometers, miles or nautical miles. With each power up, the unit also displays the total distance rowed since the last battery change, providing a running training log.
The display unit is waterproof, bouyant and durable and the speed sensor is low-drag and resistant to fouling.
The optional seat switch allows you to remove the speed sensor if desired (such as for races) and still have accurate rate information.
No through-hull holes are required for installation.

Features & Specifications
Speed/Pace: Speed through the water averaged over and updated every stroke. May be displayed as either speed (meters per second) or pace (time for 500 meters).
Timer: 1/10th second resolution and accuracy. After 59 minutes, 59.9 seconds, display rolls back to 00:00.0 and continues counting.
Average Speed/Pace: Average speed or pace since the last reset.
Stroke Rate: Strokes per minute with 1/2 stroke resolution and accuracy. Stroke rate is determined either from changes in hull speed picked up by the speed sensor or from a seat switch (optional). The seat switch option allows the rate window to operate when no speed sensor is used and also ensures accurate stroke rate readings in situations which may temporarily affect speed and rate accuracy (rowing at ratings of 15 SPM or less or near power lines, bridges and other sources of electromagnetic interference).
Memory: Automatic memory feature saves average speed, average rate and split time for 25 intervals. Choice of interval lengths (100 meters, 500 meters, 0.5 nautical miles, 0.5 statute miles).
Units: Choice of meters, kilometers, nautical miles or statute miles.
Automatic Start/ShutDown: Clock starts automatically with first stroke. To preserve battery life, the display unit turns itself off when not in use.
Display: Liquid crystal display. Contrast maintained even in bright sunlight.
Battery: User-replaceable lithium CR2032 battery. Estimated life of 1,600 hours (more than 3 years of average use).
Construction: Impact-resistant polycarbonate case with sealed acrylic window. Two sealed push button controls. Waterproof and saltwater resistant. Display unit floats.
Installation: Installation of mounting bracket and speed sensor is simple and fast. Cordless communication between sensor and pickup - no through-hull holes needed. Variety of mounting brackets are available, including foot stretcher, deck/wing and cross-brace styles.
Physical Specifications: Display unit measures 3.5 x 2.3 x 0.9 in. (90 x 60 x 23 mm.).
Warranty: Two year warranty on entire system. Extended "Customer Care" warranty for unit only.
