GFP IMAGING FLUOROMETER

GFP IMAGING FLUOROMETER

The GFP Imaging Fluorometer is designed for the investigation of GFP expression in small plants, leaves, animals, tissues or bacterial colonies both in laboratory and field. Typical size of an investigated object 3.5 x 3.5 cm or less. Samples are placed within the field of view of the CCD camera, and fluorescence emission is monitored quantitatively. Values are displayed numerically and also used to construct a false colour image of the sample to show heterogeneity of the emission signal. The Imager is typically produced with 490 nm excitation and 510 nm emission filters with 490 nm super-bright LEDs. This combination is best suited for the popular EGFP. Optionally it can be equipped with a different combination of filters and LEDs to measure other GFP variants i.e. EBFP, ECFP, EYFP, DsRed.

Fluorescence emission is induced by four sets of 25 super-bright blue LEDs that provide excitation flashes of a user-definable duration or for continuous irradiance. The GFP Imaging Fluorometer is an easily portable system equipped with NiMH batteries in a convenient bag carried on the shoulder. Its software package includes a Wizard with the most frequently used experimental protocols.
