The 50 mL (9.2 cm L x 2.0 cm D) animal chamber is suitable for insects and other small invertebrates. It does not have a fan or grid but it is otherwise similar in construction to the 8.5 cm diameter chamber. Qubit Systems can supply the chambers in custom-cut lengths.
The 700 mL (13.0 cm L x 8.5 cm D) animal chamber is suitable for small vertebrates. It is equipped with a fan, a port for the temperature probe, and luer-lock connectors at either end for air inflow and outflow. The fan ensures that the air flowing out of the chamber into the gas analysis system is well mixed. The grid allows for a 2 cm layer of air between the animal抯 feet and the bottom of the chamber. This insulates the animal抯 feet from the direct effects of external temperature changes.
The temperature probe port is located below the fan. The probe can be secured in the port using QUBITAC or a removable silicone rubber sealant. The port should be sealed with a rubber plug when not in use. The chamber can be supplied in custom lengths to accommodate larger animals.
The 218.5 mL (20.0 cm L x 3.7 cm D) animal chamber is suitable for smaller reptiles and amphibians and larger invertebrates. G113-G117 ANIMAL CHAMBERS
Our animal chambers can be used with organisms ranging from insects to small mammals. They can also be used for soil samples and other substances that exchange gases with the atmosphere. Each chamber has end caps with double O rings to ensure a gas tight fit. The end caps have a sealable port to accommodate a temperature probe (not supplied). The G114 and G116 chambers are fitted with a screened electric fan in the end cap to ensure gas mixing. Removable grids allow animal waste to fall to the bottom of the two larger chambers. Our chambers are fitted with Excelon tubing, luer connectors and transparent cast acrylic walls. Each chamber comes with an accessory kit that includes extra luer fittings, tubing, vacuum grease and spare stoppers.
